Fitness
Below, you’ll find an excerpt from my 2009 Life Plan. I have really come to enjoy racing and spending time training and getting fit. But it’s not all about “physical” fitness.
Health, in my definition spans 4 distinct areas of life, spiritual, emotional, mental and physical. I desire to achieve strength and balance in all areas of health and want to set the standard and example of what it means to live intentionally. One of my life desires is to achieve a sense of balance between being prepared and intentional AND relaxing into what God brings , realizing that he is in control. Some day…I want to be a wise sage, a learned and knowledgeable, mature and prudent man. This is only going to happen as I am teachable and striving to learn continually till the day I die.
I want to constantly be discovering new ideas and applying what I learn to my life and influence and I desire to be a masterful communicator so that I can help others enhance their own life and work. As I grow older, I want to maintain an extremely high level of fitness and when I’m 90, I still want to enjoy walking, hiking, traveling, great mobility and health in all areas. I want to take care of this temple so that I can experience life to it’s fullest and live adventurously till the day I die.
Prov. 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”
Prov. 13:16 “Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly.
Prov. 23:12 “Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.”
1 Cor. 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
1 Cor. 9:24-27 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave…”
